Description of the Mini-Sharp® Diamond Sharpener (F70C):
Characteristics:
Grain size: 45μm /325mech
Dimensions of the stone: 68mm x 24mm x 5mm
Unfolded length: 140mm
Description:
For people who lead an active lifestyle ( constantly go fishing, hunting or just relax in nature), quite often there is a need to sharpen or fix a tool/knife. So that they do not have to carry bulky stationary whetstones with them, the American company DMT (Diamond Machining Technology) offers diamond sharpeners of the Mini-Sharp® series. Sharpeners of this series have quite compact dimensions and a small weight, which allows you to carry them on your keys in the form of a keychain.
Features of the model:
DMT Mini-Sharp® diamond sharpener-keychain - a base made of colored plastic measuring 68mm x 24mm x 5mm, on which a thin perforated metal plate with encrusted diamonds of different grains. The whetstone is placed in a plastic case with a key ring, which turns into a convenient handle when the bar is extended. The plastic base and protective case are painted blue, which, according to the classification of the DMT company, shows that the grinding stone has a coarse grain size (grain size 45 microns, 325 mesh). The main purpose of the folding Mini-Sharp® sharpener is to straighten tools, fishing hooks and restore the correct cutting wedge that has not been sharpened for a long time and has become dull due to the careless use of small knives in the field.
The advantages of Mini-Sharp® diamond sharpeners are:
- small dimensions when folded and low weight, which allows you to take them on the road;
- they do not wear out and do not require restoration of the plane;
- they remove metal from the Blade more efficiently and faster than natural stones.
The presence of a convenient handle in the sharpeners of the Mini-Sharp® series allows you to sharpen and straighten knives both in a hanging position and by placing the whetstone on a base, for example, on a table.
Sharpening technology:
To restore the correct cutting wedge on the knife blade, we have a Mini-Sharp® whetstone on the edge of the table. We install the knife blade on the whetstone at the required angle (as a rule, knives have a sharpening angle of 40°, which means that there should be an angle of about 20° between the blade and the whetstone), and we move the blade with the cutting edge forward. It is important that the direction of movement of the blade on the whetstone at the point of contact is always perpendicular to the cutting edge. When working with a diamond whetstone with a large grain, you should not press the blade strongly against the surface, otherwise deep scratches will appear, which will later be difficult to remove. Having corrected one side of the cutting edge, we move on to the other, following the rules listed above. After the correct cutting wedge has been restored on a coarse-grained grindstone, the blade should be ground on fine-grained bars (fine, grain size 25 microns, 600 mesh).
